We have had this experience of transferring items on our flash and not systems and all of a sudden the whole folders turn to shortcuts. Before the advent of flash drives, we made use our of cds and floppy diskettes (awon omo late 90's ko le mo)...English interpretation it is oblivion to children born in the mid 2000's. I remembered while writing my project back in the university, this menace use my eyes see wen. Most time i would always start typing all over again. I wont bore you too much, but provide you with necessary steps to tackle this ugly menace.Most times when you copy from the laptop into your flash drive, folders turn to shortcuts and your face goes like this...especially when you borrowed the flash and the owners documents developed wings.
SOLUTION
Click on the windows start button
It brings you here
type attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
the D is letter attribute of your external storage device .This particular flash drive is e
so here is what we would type in.attrib -h -r -s /s /d E:\*.*
....This method restores your file back to folders with its files intact.
There are other methods to achieve this which involves the use of software.
